Reiki:  Ancient Whispers

The word "Reiki" translates as heavenly blessings of an almighty power rain down upon us, responding to our prayers and mantras, nourishing the seed of divine life within each of us. Reiki sounds and symbols are an original ancient language that links our body and mind with our very soul.

Sounds and symbols are directly related to our environment and nervous systems. Draw a circle with spokes radiating from it, representing the sun. Trace the shape slowly with your fingertip; can you feel yourself radiating outward like the sun? Again, draw a spiral, which in many languages is the symbol of protection and energy. Slowly trace your fingertip around the spiral, feeling the spiraling movement of energy within your body building as you do so. Our bodies, made up of energy, respond to the energies around us.

The three levels of Reiki can be viewed as Light, Love and Power. We are healing, as well as being healed, by living universal energy... Light, Love and Power... the trinity... the Om. Reiki is intangible, invisible, formless... the essence of life. We experience Reiki by being in the moment... releasing conscious thought... acknowledging our feeling nature... and allowing all that is, to be. In Reiki healing, you do nothing yet achieve everything. Each person moves to his or her own rhythm. Through our own connection with Divine Joy and Awareness, we open to the moment. And in that moment, there is only Love, Power, and Healing.

Each person is responsible for the healing that occurs within the body... a healer can only assist to the extent you allow. Healing can take place on many levels... emotional healing of the heart... physical healing of the body... spiritual healing of the consciousness... the ability to embody qualities of joy, love, forgiveness... and the desire to serve others as ourselves. Successful healing is a matter of individual interpretation. In the final analysis, we are our own healers... and that healer within can be released with the gentle assistance of Reiki.

Reiki Precepts
Just for today, I will let go of anger.
Just for today, I will let go of worry.
Just for today, I will count my blessings.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to every living creature.


Take a deep breath. Allow all negative emotions to surface... release them in your exhalation. Inhale again... drawing in honesty, gratitude, kindness and love. You are your own special ray of healing light. Connect with your inner radiance!
