Hair De-Tangling
Spray
3 oz. Aloe Vera Gel; 5 oz.
Distilled Water; 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E Oil; 1 teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar; 1
teaspoon Polysorbate 20 as emulsifying agent, optional.
10 drops each of the following hair-loving
essential oils:
Lavender, Rosemary, Lemon;
Mix and pour into a spray bottle. Shake
well before spraying. Apply to wet hair.
Herbal Wipes
Note: Each recipe makes 2 containers. 1 roll Bounty paper towels, cut in half to make 2
rolls (May substitute Viva). Use a serrated,
sharp knife. Remove cardboard tube.
Put in a Rubbermaid container. I use the Collectible round 2-quart with a
screw-on top.
16 oz. bottle witch hazel
Add: 1 Tbsp. Tea Tree Essential Oil
1 teaspoon Lavender Essential Oil
12 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil
Shake well.
Add half of this mixture to 2 cups distilled water and mix well. Pour over the
1/2 roll of Bounty towels in jar. Put lid on jar, and turn jar upside down and
on its side to moisten all towel segments. These are popular with everyone...
and other combinations of oils work well for facial wipes. It's best to use a
top, middle and base note for each scent combination. I am told they work
wonders for cooling down hot flashes! They are great for hand wipes, too... put
a few in a zip-lock baggie and stick in your purse.
Baby Wipes
1 roll Bounty paper towels (Can substitute Viva, but don't try cheaper brands)
2-1/2 cups really warm (not hot) water
1 tablespoons homemade Caress of Chamomile, Kissed by Chamomile or Simply Soap
soap flakes
1 tablespoon Jojoba Oil 4 oz. Witch Hazel
1 empty plastic baby wipe container with close-fitting lid (or Rubbermaid
container, as for Herbal wipes.) Take the roll of paper towels
and cut in half with a sharp serrated knife. You will now have two large toilet
paper-like rolls. Remove the inner cardboard cylinder from 1 roll. Save other
roll for the next batch. Put the warm water in a quart container. Add the soap
to the hot water and stir gently until dissolved, then add the Jojoba oil and
Witch Hazel. May add a bit of Tea Tree, Lavender and Lemon Essential Oils, too. May
add Chamomile Essential Oil, also. I use a dropper full of each. GENTLY swish to mix, but
don't make it foam or bubble up. Place the half roll of paper towels in the
container (you may have to push it down in a little), pour the water/soap
mixture in, close the lid TIGHTLY. May turn upside down and on its side for 10
minutes or so (to let mixture soak through all of towels). Turn over & open
up. Pull first wipe from the inside center of the roll. It will be a little
tight for the first couple of wipes, but they come out easily after that.
Other Wipes Omit or reduce the fragrance,
in the basic herbal wipe recipe... Use them as wipes and/or compresses. Works
very well for brand new mommies to help with the swelling and soreness that
comes along with the blessed event. May add 1/4 cup vodka to the basic recipe
for this.
Body Mist 2 oz. Vodka,
6 oz. Distilled Water, 50 drops Pure Essential Oils, 1 teaspoon
Polysorbate 20 as an emulsifier. Combine in spray bottle. May be
used for body or linen spray.
